The District has received a development application for 1552 Esquimalt Avenue. The site is currently developed with a 20-storey rental apartment building. The proposed development is to construct an infill residential building on the site while retaining the existing rental building. The proposed infill building is 19 storeys and 126 units (strata titled). The existing parkade is to be reconstructed in phases to allow for onsite parking during construction and add additional parking spaces and bicycle storage.

On June 8, 2026, Council gave first reading to the proposed amending bylaws and then held a public hearing on June 29, 2026. At its meeting on July 20, 2026, Council gave the proposed bylaws second and third readings. Once conditions precedent to adoption are completed, the bylaws and development permit will be scheduled for approval at a future Council meeting. A date has not yet been determined.
